BHS/BMS Cheer Showing Community Spirit Through Community Service
August 7, 2014Bryan High School
The Bryan High School Cheerleaders have been very busy lately, but it’s not only getting ready for Friday nights! During the week of July 21st through 25th the BHS cheerleaders helped serve lunch at the Mattie Marsh Park for the Summer Lunch Program. The lunch program was a huge hit pulling in 30-60 kids everyday ranging in ages from 3-14. After serving the meal and then dining with the kids, the cheerleaders were able to have some fun by playing games, teaching games and coloring. Kids came running when they heard the cheerleaders were leading water activities on the hot days! It was by far the kids' favorite day and they never missed the opportunity to splash some water on the cheerleaders. Watching the girls interact with the kids was a wonderful sight! You could never tell who was having more fun, the kids or the BHS Cheerleaders.
We are also holding a benefit/community service for little Briele Murphy. Briele fell into a swimming pool while at her sitters' home on May 23rd. Briele is still in the hospital in Cleveland, and is working hard to come home. We are working hard to raise money to help aide the family in buying the necessary equipment they will need to care for her once she is home. They are also seeking a treatment that costs $15,000 not covered by insurance. So on July 30th we will Cheer for Briele!!!
On August 14th the BHS cheerleaders will be helping with the community school supply drive to be held at Mattie Marsh Park from 11:00 – 1:00. We are looking forward to helping these kids get the supplies they need to have a great school year at Bryan City Schools.
