We've all heard the phrase "slow and steady wins the race."  In tonight's boys basketball contest between the Bryan Golden Bears and the Bowling Green Bobcats, the Bobcats weathered the early storm to outlast the Bears 59-54.

Led by sharpshooter Austin Schimmoeller, the Bears shot 7/10 from 3-point land in the first half, and built an impressive 35-27 halftime lead over the #2 seed Bobcats. The Bears built a double digit lead in the second half, but the BG squad continued to battle back, winning the 4th quarter 22-7.  They outscored Bryan 32-19 in the second half, and ended the game on an 18-2 run.

The Bobcats' main offensive weapon was Vitto Brown, who led all scorers with 36 points on 13/26 shooting.  The 6'8" Brown has committed to the University of Wisconsin, and scored from many points on the floor, despite great defense from the Bears.  LaMonta Stone had 10 points, while Evan Gardner added 9 for the Bobcats.

Schimmoeller, who was also the Bill's Locker Room III /GBSN player of the game, led the Bears with 22 points (including 6/12 from 3-pt. range.) Sean Culler poured in 13 points, and Jordan Spiess and Austin Martin added 6 for the Bears in defeat.

Bowling Green advances to play Napoleon on Friday night as the Cats defeated Rossford 63-46.  The Bears' season ends at 11-12. Video replays of this great contest will be available online at bryansports.com, and on BMU channel 3 in Bryan.
