The Boys Basketball team lost to Paulding 58-38 to drop to 11-10 overall with one game remaining in the regular season. Bryan will host Wauseon for the NWOAL title on Friday night. Bryan will win a share of the league title with the win and would win the title outright with a win and an Archbold loss.
The GIrls Basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Napoleon 27-26 in the sectional tournament. They finish the season with a record of 12-11. Congratulations to the entire team, and especially seniors MaKayla Dennis, Katie Roushia, Paige Taylor, Lydia Snavely, and Jaclyn Hollin, on their season.
The Girls Swimming and Diving team had a historic afternoon at the Northwest District meet last Friday at BGSU. Sophomore Lauren Chaney claimed the first ever girls district title, winning the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:14:00. The team finished with 144 points and placed sixth at the meet. That was the most points and the highest finish ever.
Additionally, the three relay teams qualified as at-large representatives. The 200 medley relay team of Chaney, Annika Shaffer, Jojo Rode, and Olivia Smith finished in a time of 1:54.20 at districts, which ranks 19th among state qualifiers. The 400 freestyle relay team of Chaney, Shaffer, JoJo Rode and Courtney Rode finished in a time of 3:44.17, which also ranks 19th among state qualifiers. The 200 freestyle relay team of Shaffer, JoJo Rode, Courtney Rode, and Smith finished in a time of 1:42.67, which ranks 22nd among state qualifiers.
Brandon Poncsak of the Boys Swimming and Diving team finished in 6th place at the district meet. He competed at the state meet this week, finishing in 17th, just one spot from earning all-state honors.
The Boys Bowling team finished third in the sectionals behind Liberty Center and Anthony Wayne to advance to the district competition this Friday. Trevor Przepiora led Bryan with a 589 series, finishing 6ht overall.
The Girls Bowling team won the Northwest Sectional Championship over Liberty Center by 32 pins. Michaela Kemp bowled a 606 series for top honors. Taylor Rickard rolled a 539 series for the Bears who advance to the Northwest District Meet in Rossford on Friday.
The Wrestling team finished 9th at the Division II North and South Sectional and will send three wrestlers to districts. Shelden Struble (45-2 record) won a sectional championship. Wes Walter (39-8) and Brock Nagel (32-9) will also represent the Bears at districts.
The NWOAL Winter Sports Scholar Athletes were recently announced. Representing BHS were : Luke Shaffer, Alex Staup, Jaclyn Hollin, Katie Roushia, Matt Frame, Olivia Smith and Shelden Struble.
