For the second time this month, the Napoleon Lady Cats got the best of the Bryan Lady Bears, this time ending the Bears' season with a heartbreaking 27-26 decision.  This opening round sectional tournament game was a low-scoring affair.

For a majority of the first half, the Bryan Lady Bears failed to knock down a field goal, yet the Napoleon Lady Cats could not extend their lead beyond a 9-2 tally. The halftime score was 12-10, with the Cats hitting a last-second shot to end the half to reclaim a lead they held most of the
half.

The Lady Bears' struggles continued early in the 3rd Quarter, before a pair of 3-pointers turned the tide.  Alexa Brown knocked down her second triple to extend the Bears lead, and they went in to the final stanza up 21-17.  A strong 4th Quarter by the Cats drew the game even in to the closing seconds, when Brown was whistled for a crucial foul with .09 left in the contest.

Napoleon's Sydney Lawson missed the front end, but hit the second free throw to put the Cats on top for good.  The Bears had one last shot, as MaKayla Dennis' left-hand runner on the baseline drew iron and rimmed out.

For the contest, the Lady Cats shot 34.5% from the floor, 20% from 3-pt. range, and were 6-13 from the FT line.  They committed 12 turnovers, and pulled down 18 rebounds.  The Lady Bears shot 18% from the floor, but 50% (3-6) from 3-pt. range, and were 11-16 from the FT line.  They committed 10 turnovers, and pulled down 19 rebounds.

Hannah Schimmoeller was the game's only player in double-digits with 13 points (9-11 FT shooting), and she was the GBSN/Bills' Locker Room III player of the game.  Lindsay Ferguson led the Napoleon attack with 7 points, while Lawson and Alexa Sonnenberg contributed 6 points apiece in victory.

Napoleon (6-17) continues on to face Van Wert this Saturday at 6:15pm at Hicksville High School. Bryan's season ends with a 12-11 overall record.  We congratulate Coach Eric Stantz, his staff and his players on another great basketball season.
