Home » Wrestling NewsGolden Bears lose to Defiance in State DualsJanuary 25, 2013 Bryan High SchoolFrom Coach Josh Montgomery: The Bryan wrestling team traveled to Toledo Central Catholic Wednesday for the first annual OHSAA Team State Dual tournament. In a single elimination tournament, we wrestled Defiance in the regional quarterfinals. We had wrestled Defiance, on Saturday and beat them 40-27. This time they were able to nip us and get revenge, as they beat us 46-36. Again, it was another close match; unfortunately we did not do enough to get the win again. Give credit to Defiance, they were an up and coming team that is well coached. They had a couple guys back in the line-up and that was the difference. On a high note, we saw Austin Owens at 120 avenge a loss over the weekend and get a pin in his rematch. We also saw Gavin Saul make scratch for the first time at 152 and despite the cut, he looked very good as he major decision his opponent. We are still in good position to meet our goals both as a team and individually. The guys recognize that and are excited to see how we can do at leagues and beyond.
