Home » Boys' Basketball NewsOttawa-Glandorf overpowers Bryan 80-32December 1, 2012 By Chris Malanga of Bryan High SchoolThe Ottawa-Glandorf Titans proved to be too much for Bryan to handle, as the Titans soundly defeated the Golden Bears 80-32 Saturday night at BHS. O-G shot 65% from the field (33-51), including 27-39 from two-point range and 6-12 from behind the arc. They also were 67% from the line.
Bryan, meanwhile, shot just 29% from the field (11-38). They were 2-12 from three-point land and 50% from the line (8-16).
O-G's pressure defense, and post presence were the keys to the game, as Bryan was not able to get things moving offensively all game. When the Bears did get inside looks, they were often unable to convert them and settled for just one shot per possession.
However, the Titans had no trouble with handling the basketball and had numerous shots from close range.
"That was probably the best O-G team, I've ever seen," said Bryan Head Coach Doug Billman. "Even better than when they had the Pollitz twins [Tim and Eric, 2001-2004]."
O-G was paced by TJ Metzger's 19-points. Michael Rosebrock had 15 points, while Noah Bramlage chipped in 14.
The Golden Bears were led by Jordan Speiss' 7 points, Sean Culler and Thomas Martin had 6 points each. Austin Schimmoeller was held to a single point.
The Titans (1-0) face Fostoria on the road next Saturday night. The Golden Bears (0-1) will host Holgate next Saturday night.
