Bears Split Quad-match

January 12, 2012
By of Bryan High School

From Coach Montgomery:

Bryan traveled to Evergreen tonight for a NWOAL quad with Evergreen and Liberty Center. In the end we split a pair of duals with both teams. In the first match we beat Evergreen 42-34. Winning for us in head to head matches were Devin Boucher at 132, Shelden Struble @ 145 and Blake Yunker at 220. In the second match against LC, we lost 57-24. Winning head to head matches for us was Shelden Struble. Overall I felt we wrestled better. We are still learning and working on getting better in the practice room. We need to continue to pick up the intensity and wrestle with the emotion required to succeed. In both matches we need to set the tone and learn to wrestle to win. LC is a very good team and it showed that we need to learn to get off the bottom. A few of our guys tend to rest on bottom. We need to be aggressive in all facets of the match. In addition we need to continue help ourselves and put ourselves in positions to win. I believe as we continue to work hard and strive to get better we will see the dividends pay off. Tomorrow we travel to Marion Elgin for the Marion County Invite. This will be a great test for our veteran kids and will also be a great opportunity for both our veterans and younger guys to see where they are at and what they need to do to get better.
