12-4A District Play
October 6, 2011By Derick Roberson of Bryan Adams High Football
The BA Cougars entered district play with a record of 1-3 as they took on Thomas Jefferson September 23, 2011. TJ was coming off of their first victory in four years and appeared anxious to extend their win streak. The Cougars quickly brought the Patriots back to reality with 55-0 win to improve their record to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in district.
Next up were the Lincoln Tigers, who had been struggling as well this season and coming off of a three game losing streak. The Tigers were hungry and determined to prove that they still had that South Dallas mystique. The Cougars jumped out in front 7-0 in the game with Joshua Brown making his first start at quarterback for BA. Lincoln would come right back to score a touchdown of their own to tie the score 7-7 at the end of the first quarter. The score went back and forth for a while with Brown trying to lead the Cougars to victory. Joshua would finish the game having completed 20 passes for 328 yards and 3 TDs, however it would not be enough as Lincoln prevailed 39-21.
The Cougars are now 2-4 overall and 1-1 in district play. With a bye week this week, the Cougars are already preparing for Hillcrest, who are also 1-1 in district. The game will be next week, October 13, 2011 at Franklin field at 7:00 pm. Although it's still early in district play, the Hillcrest game has playoff implications with the winner possibly securing a spot in the 2011 state playoffs. Make sure you show your cougar pride by showing up for next Thursday night's game!
