Base: Brownsburg rallies past Center Grove, 14-11

After jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, Brownsburg quickly found itself staring at a seven-run deficit as Center Grove answered with 11-first inning runs of their own.

 

The Bulldogs chipped away with a single run in the second, four more in the fourth and two in the fifth to tie the contest at 11. Brownsburg then plated three runs in the top of the eighth to earn the win May 10.

 

Junior Bobby Carr was one of three Brownsburg players to drive in three runs. Carr was 3 for 5 with a stolen base. Sophomore Sam Sampen hit a home run and had three RBIs and junior David Oliger drove in three runs.

 

Seniors Tyler Owensby and Jason Catron were both 2 for 4 with a double each. Owensby scored three times while Catron scored once and had two RBIs.

 

Senior Levi Slawta pitched the final two and a third innings, allowing just one hit to earn his second win of the season.

 

Kyle Kraus pounded a home run, drove in three runs and scored twice to lead Center Grove’s first inning explosion. He finished the day with two hits and walked three times.

 

Junior Brad Walker added a single, double, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base for the Trojans. Senior Thomas Huebner homered and drove in two for CG.
