Catcher Jose Marte broke the tie game in the bottom of the 7th inning with an RBI double to deep left field. First Baseman Victor Leroux recorded an RBI single which gave the Broncos a 2-run lead. Pitcher Adolfy Javier entered the game in the 8th inning and shutdown KCC. He recorded 6 outs without giving up a hit and struck out 3 to earn the save.

In its third season, Women’s Basketball team fought long and hard for second-year Head Coach, Pete Cepeda. The Lady Broncos won 8 games, a 7 game improvement over last year and made it to both the CUNYAC and Region XV Championship for the first time ever.
The team’s biggest win came on February 18th as they defeated conference rival LaGuardia CC 65-57 in the CUNYAC Championship Semi-Finals. LaGuardia got off to a 20-6 lead early in the game making it look like it would be a long night for Bronx. After the slow start, BCC was able to score more consistently, but at the half the Red Hawks led the Lady Broncos by 8, 33-25. The Bronx second half opened up with a flurry of scoring as the team went on a 9-0 run to take the lead 34-33. For much of the second half the teams exchanged buckets and the score remained close with both teams taking turns leading. With 5:38 left in regulation, Dorae Murray hit a jumper to extend the Bronx lead to 52-47 and the team didn't look back from there. BCC scored a total of 40 points in the half en-route to the 65-57 upset over the Red Hawks.
Hivelize Escobar was named the CUNYAC Player of the Year and was also named as member of the CUNYAC All-Tournament Team along with teammate Dorae Murray. The Men’s soccer team enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2013. By years end, the team had made appearances in the NJCAA Region 15 Championship Semifninals as well as a CUNYAC Men’s Soccer Championships which marked the first time in 10 years Bronx qualified for the game.
The team posted their most dramatic win in the NJCAA Regional Quarterfinals. The team was staked to an early 2-1 lead thanks to goals by Oshae Miller. However, a handball penalty committed by Bronx gave the Falcons a penalty kick with less than 30 seconds left to play in the half. But Goalkeeper Alejandro Rico, who has had a knack for dramatic saves down the stretch, turned away a difficult shot to preserve the lead. The spectacular save came at a price though, as Rico was injured on the play, and could not continue. The save inspired the team to tough 2nd half defense as the Broncos beat the Falcons 3-2.
Academically the team shines as well with the highest cumulative GPA among all sports at BCC at 2.86 The top performer in the classroom and on the pitch was Oshae Miller, who has been selected as the Michael Steuerman CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, CUNYAC’s top award.
Members of the team also earned numerous individual athletic awards. Sophomores Kofi Adarkwah, Oshae Miller, and Ben Bangoura were named CUNYAC All-Stars. Bangoura was also named CUNYAC Player of the Year. For his leadership and ability to change the landscape of BCC Soccer, Head Coach Mohammed Donkor was named CUNYAC Coach of the Year. In addition, Bangoura and Miller were voted to the NJCAA Region XV All-Region Second Team.
The honors don't stop there. The team was recognized as the Region XV Soccer Sportsmanship Award winners. The soccer officials vote this honor on who referee both men's and women's soccer teams throughout the season. Of the 22 teams that received votes, Bronx came out on top.
The team will be saying goodbye to 2nd year players; Kofi Adarkwah, Augustine Amissah, Kossi Atchrimi, Tariq Brown, Ernest Gyeatuo, and Oshae Miller.

The Women’s Volleyball team led our program in teamwork. No matter the situation, players remained positive and pushed each other to do the very best they could each and every day. Practicing late into the nights, they worked hard the entire season to improve and up their games.
One of the Lady Broncos’ most impressive wins came against rival BMCC. The team was led by Sophomore Katarzyna Urena with 11 kills, 21 digs and 7 service aces. The night started off slow for the Broncos as they dropped the first game 11-25. They fought back vigorously from there and were rewarded with a 25-20 win. A closely contested third game went to the Panthers, but once again Bronx fought back winning both games 4 & 5 with 25-22 and 15-9, respectively for the win.
Team leader Katarzyna Urena was injured early in the season and missed most of the year. But that didn’t stop her from setting a good example for her teammates. She supported and helped the team at practice and games. At the same time she continued to excel in the classroom and for her efforts she has been selected as the Michael Steuerman CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, CUNYAC’s top award.
This volleyball team will have a lot to look forward to next season with as many as 5 returning freshmen. The team will be saying goodbye to second year players Miriam Gonzalez, Indiana Guzman, Victoria Oputteh, and Katarzyna Urena.
