Home » Men's Basketball NewsBronx CC plays hard in tough loss to BMCCFebruary 6, 2013 By Warren Thompson of BRONX COMMUNITY COLLEGEFebruary 5th, 2013 – Historic Alumni Gymnasium Bronx, NY- The Bronx Community College Broncos played host to the Borough of Manhattan Community College Panthers in the first annual senior night game. Ceremonies began with senior awards handed out to 2nd year seniors Derrick Fernandez, Ronnell Ross, and Ronald Washington. The game started out well for both teams with Ronnell Ross scoring 19 of the Broncos’ 29 first half points, as the broncos went in to halftime trailing 35-29. At the intermission there was some fun to be had as Bronx Community College and Modell’s Sporting goods sponsored a dress a dribble contest as the teams received their halftime talks. Play resumed, and much of the same from the first half continued in the second. Ronald Washington led the Broncos second half scoring with 15 points. After a well fought second half, where the broncos’ scored 35 points, the game ended and the Broncos’ found themselves on the losing end of a 70-64 score line. With this loss the Broncos fall to 11-10 on the season. The Broncos’ top scorer was Ronnell Ross, who led all scorers, with 23 points, 8-19 from the field and 20 rebounds giving him his 19th double-double on the season. With this game, Ronnell improves to 402 points on the season, averaging 19.1 points per game, and 13.8 rebounds per game. Other notable stats: Derrick Fernandez – 10 points, 5 assists 5 rebounds Ronald Washington – 15 points, 5 rebounds
