Congratulations to Blaise Butler (2nd/39-1) and Jake Armellani (3rd/34-6)

By Jeff Phad of Boylan Catholic Broadcasting

Congratulations to Blaise Butler (2nd/39-1) and Jake Armellani (3rd/34-6) for placing at the IHSA Barrington Sectional and advancing to next weekends State Wrestling Championships.

Blaise Butler (#2 ranking/Illinois Matmen) received a bye in the first round, pulled off a major decision in the 2nd Round, and achieved a Technical Fall in the Semifinals.  In the championship match at 140 pounds Blaise drew the #1 wrestler in the state, Luke Smith of Wheeling.  Smith defeated Butler 7-2 to claim the 140 pound championship.

Jake Armellani (#20 ranking / Illinois Matman) received a bye in round one, achieved a pin (5:42) in round 2, and was defeated 4-2 by the eventual Sectional Champion #8 ranked Aaron Castagna of Barrington.  Jake ended the day on a very positive note, pinning Terry Thomas (Mt. Prospect) to take home a 3rd place finish.

Blaise and Jake will compete in next weekends IHSA wrestling finals at the Assembly Hall in Champaign.  We wish both wrestlers good luck as they represent Boylan Catholic in their quest for a State Championship.
