Season Is Here

March 7, 2014
By Dean Streed of Bowling Green High School

Bowling Green's baseball team recently began practice on Tuesday, due to inclement weather on Monday.  A total of 27 players have signed up for this years season.  This was a great turnout for the season, hopefully the whole team will begin meshing together as a single unit and we will not have any players drop out.  As a whole, coming back from last year the Varsity team should be solid.  The team lost a key starter, Senior Brian Moore who was a utility player who could pitch and play almost every position.  His leadership and vocalness will be missed as well, but there are guys who are willing to step up.  Another key loss this season was Jacob Niemeyer who suffered a torn labrum and will be missed for the whole season.  This is a great loss with his speed and knowledge in the leadoff spot.  This has happened in the fall for softball as well, and I look for the team to come together and collectively fill Jake's role.  BG also has some key incoming Freshman that will make an impact, but if you would really like to know more, come see for yourself!

***BG WILL BE HOSTING THE FIRST EVER JAMBOREE ON MARCH 18TH (weather permitting) STARTING AT 4PM.  TEAMS IN THE JAMBOREE: MONROE CITY, MARION COUNTY, HIGHLAND, BG.  Each team will play three innings or one hour, due to MSHSAA rules.***

We hope to see the communities support, especially when the weather gets nicer!
