Mayfield Post 26

Mayfield Post 26 extended a streak with a loss on Thursday night and then started another one in the other direction on Friday.

Mayfield swept a twinbill from Carrier Mills, Ill., on Friday, improving to 2-3 on the season following a loss to Lyon County on Thursday night. Post 26 is in action tonight at 6, playing Tri-County in a doubleheader at Mike Miller Park.

Mayfield 8, Carrier Mills 4
Kye Wade tripled twice and drove in a run, and CM committed three errors as Post 26 won for the first time in the 2011 season.

Larry Brown was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI, and Jon Lollar was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Mayfield.

Adam Riley (1-0) pitched a complete-game seven-hitter for the win, striking out 12 and walking only one.

Mayfield led 4-1 after three innings and 8-3 after six.

Mayfield 17, Carrier Mills 7
Post 26 scored in every inning, including six runs in the fifth, to take the run-rule decision.

Carrier Mills actually led, 6-3, going into the bottom of the third, but then Mayfield scored 14 runs in its next four at-bats to break the game open.

Starkey was 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI, and Brown doubled twice in finishing 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead Mayfield.

Lollar was 3-for-4 with two RBI, Chris Nance was 3-for-3 with two RBI and Sawyer Lawson was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Mayfield.

T.K. Kemper (1-1) came on in the second inning and earned the pitching win.
CM homered twice in the game.

Lyon Co. 5, Mayfield 4
Lyon County scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 4-all tie and then held Mayfield in the top of the seventh for the win.

Lollar came on in relief of Wes Jones in the fifth inning to suffer the mound loss for Mayfield.

Wade was 2-for-3, while both Starkey and Brown were 2-for-4 with an RBI for Post 26.
