Lady Bombers win Heath Invitational volleyball tourney for second year

Ballard County's varsity girls' volleyball team defended their title at the Sept. 18 Heath Invitational Tournament in commanding fashion, going undefeated in six matches in straight sets. This is the second year in a row they've won the event, going undefeated both times.
Match scores were as follows: Carlisle County, 25-4, 25-10; Hickman County, 25-10, 25-16; Heath, 25-17, 25-22; Fulton County, 25-14, 25-15; Hickman County, 25-19, 25-9; and Graves County, 26-24, 25-14.
The girls racked up some pretty impressive statistics during the six-match event, also:
Kills - Audrie Blakney 15, Daphne Bommarito 27, Paige Citarella 14, Cydnie Wiggins 17, Elizabeth Goodin 16, Jade Tilford 3.
Assists - Jade Tilford 68, Bommarito 7, Citarella 3.
Aces -Blakney 10, Kelley Chronister 6, Citarella 6, Jane Thomson 6, Wiggins 6, Tilford 5, Bommarito 4, Goodin 3.
Blocks -Bommarito 4, Goodin 3, Citarella 2, Tilford 2
The varsity team has a current record of 19-5. They hold first place in their district and have the most wins in the region.
The Lady Bombers travel to Marshall County for a triple-header on Thursday, Sept. 23. They will compete in their last regular-season tournament on Sept. 24 and 25 at the SportsPlex in McCracken County. The event consists of 24 elite teams from Kentucky, Illinois and Tennessee.
Six players were recognized on Senior Night, Sept. 16 with the 6 seniors names. They were Audrie Blakney #6, Daphne Bommarito #4, Kelley Chronister #16, Paige Citarella #9, Becca Kaufman #27 and Jane Thomson #00.
