Lady Bomber Shootout set for Dec. 21-23

LaCENTER, Ky. - The third annual Lady Bomber Shootout will be held in the gym at Ballard Memorial High School, 3561 Paducah Road, Barlow, on Dec. 21-23.
Ballard athletic director Kevin Estes said 16 teams from Kentucky and Tennessee will be here, playing in both the high school and Ballard County Middle School gyms. In addition to Ballard, other teams scheduled to participate are Paducah Tilghman, Heath, Fulton City; Marshall, Hickman, Lyon, Logan, Hart, Bourbon, Christian, Allen (Scottsville) and Todd (Central) counties in Kentucky; Lake County, Union City and Beech (Hendersonville) in Tennessee.
Estes said that this is the biggest girls' tournament in western Kentucky, and that several college coaches have committed to attend. Games begin on Monday, Dec. 21, in both gyms at 3 p.m. The Lady Bombers play their first-round game vs. Lyon County on Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the high-school gym. Action continues on Tuesday, Dec. 22, beginning at 9 a.m. in both gyms, and concludes with a 9 p.m. game in the high-school gym. Games start up at 10:30 a.m. in both gyms on Wednesday, Dec. 23, with the championship game set for 4:30 p.m. in the high-school gym.
Rick Waldon of Waldon Lodge will be serving up his award-winning barbecued pork and chickens and on Tuesday, Dec. 22, as a fundraiser for the Lady Bombers. Even non-basketball fans are welcome to come by the high school gym concession stand and get a sandwich or plate.
Sack lunches also will be available on that date from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The lunches will contain a Waldon Barbecue sandwich, chips and a cookie or candy bar for $5. For $6.50, buyers also can have a 20 oz. soft drink included. Lunches may be picked up at the high school gym concession stand. Orders of 10 or more may request delivery to the LaCenter, Bandana, Barlow, Wickliffe and Kevil areas. To place an order, please either visit the concession stand or call Todd Dixon at 270-908-1232.
