Boy Bolts in College
Varsity Results for 9/30
October 1, 2013Northmont High School - Boys Golf
Northmont found a silver lining in a season marked by close calls tonight. The bolts competed against Troy and Tipp City in our final regular season contest of the 2013 campaign. While Troy high school claimed the overall victory firing a team total of 159, the Bolts finished strong posting a team score of 174. That total was good enough for a win over a struggling Tipp City squad that posted 180.
The bolts were led by sophomore Shawn Richards who shot a score of 41. Ben Sage and Clayton Swafford carded rounds of 44. Luke Knapke completed our team score with a round of 45. Bryce Timmons and Greg Peffley both struggled turing in scores over 50 today.
The greens on the front nine at Moss Creek GC were receptive and allowed three scores under 40 (2 from Troy and 1 from Tipp City).
As 2013 draws to a close, the Bolts look to summon some post season magic at the sectional golf tournament Wednesday. We are going to need an outstanding team performance at Beavercreek if our season is to continue into districts next week. Several bolts favor the layout of Beavercreek GC and have the opportunity to qualify for the district tournament as individuals. I hope that we bring our A-game Wednesday and prove that there is still a little thunder left for the bolts in 2013.
It has been my honor and privilege to coach an outstanding group of young men during the 2013 campaign. I'm very positive on our outlook for the future as we have many sophomores playing well. With such a young team, and many of those young players getting varsity reps in 2013, the sky is the limit for the T-bolts in 2014.
