Boy Bolts in College
Varsity Results for 8/27/13
August 28, 2013Northmont High School - Boys Golf
The temperature and humidity were both high today at the 4th annual Diana Schwab Invitational which took place at Beavercreek Golf Club. This is a unique event that pays tribute to a woman who is known locally and nationally as a true advocate for amateur golf. Her passion as a player, coach, tournament director, and rules official was so profound. We honored Mrs. Schwab and her memory today as this year marked the first event which she was not with us. Her life was tragically cut short last year as the result of a horrific automobile accident on interstate 70.
Both the varsity boys and girls teed it up in this event which crowns a boys team champion, a girls team champion and a combined boys and girls team champion. We are still waiting on the official results to be sent via email, but I can report that the CJ girls team (former state champions) claimed the girls overall victory with a team total of 170. The Fairmont boys fittingly won the overall boys team event shooting a 165 on their home course.
The Northmont boys shot a season high 185 today. Shawn Richards, Luke Knapke, and Dylan Greer all posted 46. Ben Sage and Greg Peffley both posted 47. Kyle Leiter added a 53. While we did not factor in the boys standings or combined team event, we were honored to be part of an event that paid tribute to such an admirable woman.
The varsity boys look to rebound this Thursday when they tee it up against Springfield HS in our second league match of the season. We will be playing the Elks GC in Springfield.
