The Bolts trailed the Wildcats by 6 points with just over 2 minutes left in the game. Big baskets by Devon Carter, Cameron Taylor and a tip in by Jamal Trammell got the Bolts tied with Springfield with 48 seconds remaining. Springfield attempted to hold the ball for a final shot, however the relentless pressure defense by the Bolts finally resulted in a steal by Carter and a quick outlet pass to Keith Richardson who made a layup with 6 seconds to give the Bolts the lead and eventual win. Northmont got off to an early 12-2 lead, but Springfield quickly regrouped and got back in the game and the game stayed close the rest of the way. Springfleld, who had really struggled recently, got big games from Senior Darry Perry and Junior Ryan Minney. Both Perry and Minney had missed the past several games. The Bolts were led in scoring by Junior Troy Mangen and Senior Jamal Trammell, both with 11 points. Devon Carter, Cameron Taylor and Dominique Stollings each tallied 9 points to give the Bolts five different players scoring more than 9 points. This has been a strong point of our team all season long, balanced scoring and a never quit attitude. This game was like many we played this season, a tough game against a very good opponent. I think the tough games we have played this year really helped us in this game when it look pretty bleak at the end. We had some players really step up and make big time plays at both the offensive and defensive end of the court.
