MADISON, Alabama – Bob Jones junior and Alabama commitment Reggie Ragland has been named a five-star recruit in the latest rankings from Scout.com released Monday.

The Patriots' defensive stalwart also was ranked Monday as the top middle linebacker prospect in the country.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Ragland recorded 91 tackles, 21 for loss, as the Patriots made the playoffs in 2010. He has made back-to-back first-team all-state rosters, first as a tight end in 2009 and then as a linebacker in 2010.

Of his five-star ranking, Ragland told the recruiting service: "Being named a five-star means a lot to me. I know I have a target on my back now, so I just have to go out and play hard every game. I am kind of surprised by being a five-star because all the good players in this class, but it feels great to be one now."

Ragland committed to Alabama in December.

Two other North Alabama prospects debuted in Scout.com's Top 300. Four-star Florence linebacker Beniquez Brown is listed at No. 123 and the No. 11 outside linebacker. Three-star West Limestone athlete Alex Lester is listed at No. 251 and the No. 38 wide receiver. Lester has committed to Auburn, while Brown remains uncommitted.
