The Bluejackets’ plan to get victory No. 1 in 2011 was to give the ball to senior fullback Trent Chromy– a lot. Chromy carried the ball 54 times and finished with 230 yards. He scored the game’s first two touchdowns on runs of 1 and 2 yards, and Clayton Jennissen’s 1-yard TD run made it 20-0 in the first quarter. Chromy added a 4-yard scoring run in the third quarter, followed by fullback Chance Laidly bolting on a 16-yard TD run which had C-I up 34-0 with 21 seconds left in the third. The ground game had the Jackets enjoying a 32:30 – 15:30 advantage in time of possession. In their final meeting with Becker, the Bluejacket defense limited the visitors to 214 total yards, including 78 on the ground. The Jackets forced 3 Bulldog fumbles, and Ryan Epsen and Tom Selz each picked off Tommy Benson passes. Epsen also led the defense with 6.5 tackles; Joe Miller, Mike Haddick and Laidly each had a tackle-for-loss in the victory.
