BFA Teacher Takes Missions Trip to Romania

Ms. Foster, a teacher at BFA, went on a mission’s trip to Romania during the first semester of the 2012-2013 school year, organized by Hope for Romania to evangelize to people who live there and help them in everyday needs.

Hope for Romania is an organization that sends out missionaries to major cities in Romania. Their mission’s statement is, “We believe God has given us the ability to evangelize the country of Romania, plant churches in every major city, and send out missionaries into the rest of the World.”

Several churches in Upstate South Carolina counties come together when they go on the Romania trip. Ms. Foster goes with Powdersville First Baptist church, located in Easley, South Carolina.

During the trip, they visit children in gypsy villages and play with them, sing, and each them English. They also work in the schools and churches, organize summer camps, as well as cook, clean and prepare for teams that visit after them.

Ms. Foster is hoping to be able to go again for an extended time this summer. One of her favorite parts of going is “getting to love on the kids and see their faces light up when we come.”

She said, “I go because I love working with gypsies. They are very appreciative of anything, and I love all of the Romanian people.”

Ms. Foster has gone to Romania numerous times. Dr. Miles, a teacher at BFA, said that, “I’d like to go to Romania, but I choose to go keep going to Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and Nicaragua. People overseas in these countries tell me that they prefer the same group to come so that they can establish relationships with the team and the team can truly understand what the people need. I admire Ms. Foster’s going back to the same place because of those reasons.”
