Parents are holding back on giving their children vaccines
February 6, 2013James F Byrnes Freshman Academy
More parents today around the U.S. believe that keeping their child vaccine-free is healthier because they think that vaccines are causing autism in children.
Dr. Buttenheim, with Pennsylvania State University, stated, “If the unvaccinated children rate keeps going up, then certain people who rely on ‘herd immunity,’ because of allergies or compromised immune systems, will become helpless against deadly diseases.”
Herd Immunity is someone who cannot receive vaccinations and relies on the immune society to keep them safe from diseases.
Vaccine Injury (VI) is a group online that gives information about vaccines and how they can affect a child’s life. VI has been collecting information on unvaccinated children so they can compare them to vaccinated children more efficiently to see the effects of the vaccines.
According to Natural Health News, the survey was released in 2011 online by Andreas Bachmair, a German classical homoeopathic practitioner (someone who prescribes natural remedies), stated that children who get their vaccinations have 2 to 5 more diseases and disorders than children who do not. The survey included 8,000 unvaccinated children ranging in ages from newborns to nineteen.
Shianne Adams, a student at BFA, said that “some vaccinations are supposed to help prevent you from getting sickness like the flu; if not, you could die because you are open to it.”
Abigail Rock, a student at BFA, also agrees that it is “healthier to be vaccinated than unvaccinated.”
Robin Luttrell, a science teacher at BFA, stated that “because certain diseases are easily prevented through vaccinations I agree one hundred percent that children should be vaccinated.”
Some of these same parents are more likely to make healthier choices such as feeding their children a healthy diet. Some of these parents may even go to using natural home remedies instead of pharmaceuticals.
