Home » Newspaper NewsArmstrong Admitted to Doping in Interview with OprahFebruary 5, 2013 James F Byrnes Freshman AcademyOn Thursday, January 17th, 2013 at 9 ET the first part of Oprah Winfrey and Lance Armstrong’s exclusive world-wide interview was aired on OWN network revealing that Armstrong doped to win all Tour d’ Frances. The second part of the interview was aired on Friday, January 18th at 9 ET. Oprah started the interview by asking a series of Yes or No questions. In that time Armstrong openly admitted to using banned substances to enhance his performance, including EPO. Armstrong admitted that he had blood doped to enhance his cycling performance. He was also confessed he had blood doped or used banned substances in all seven of his Tour De France victories. He stated that he did not think it was possible to win without doping in this generation. “I didn’t invent the culture, but I didn’t try to stop it and that was my mistake,” said Armstrong. Armstrong believed he did not have access to anything that others did not. “I view this situation as one big lie that I repeated a lot of times,” stated Armstrong. BFA student athlete, Chris Shin, said that Armstrong “is unethical, and he made stupid decisions.” Shin also commented on steroids and performance-enhancing drugs. He said, “No, it’s not ethical and because you’re cheating your way through life.”
