Byrnes football practices starts four months before season
May 8, 2012James F Byrnes Freshman Academy
Byrnes football practice has started early.
Byrnes High School’s football team has won 11 state championships. Byrnes is known for its football team.
“The work and dedication that goes into the team is amazing,” said Brittney Bean, a student at Byrnes Freshman Academy.
The team starts practice the beginning of May and practices till the season in August.
Not all high school teams have spring practice, but Byrnes does. Byrnes is serious about their football team.
James Duckett, football player at BFA, said, “ I don’t think football practice should start before summer. We need our rest before season starts up.”
Isaiah Hill, another team mate, disagreed, “Yes, football practice should start before summer. [Spring practice] helps us learn our plays and get ready for the real practices coming up.”
Jay Jones, student at BFA, added, “Luckily spring practice isn’t that hard. We mostly scrimmaged 7 on 7 and do drills.”
Isaiah Hill said, “Practice differs on how hard it is. We have to be able to learn fast and move quickly. At practice we do drills and go over plays.”
Tierra Long, student at BFA, said, “Byrnes practices like they play. They want their season to be the best it can.”
Byrnes is one of the biggest schools in the state. They like to win and keep state title.
Tavin Richardson, starting football player, said, “By having practice start in spring it gets us ready for the upcoming year. We get to learn all the plays and practice with each other.”
Jay Jones said, “We practice earlier because it gets us back into shape and ready for our season. When we practice, other teams are not, so it makes us better. “
