Teens in Sports
April 26, 2012James F Byrnes Freshman Academy
Many teens nowadays participate in sports.
There are many studies to see if teens who participate in sports are healthier, more sociable, and mentally fit.
Many of these studies say that kids who participate in sports feel better about themselves and feel satisfied with their lives.
Michael Maus, head baseball coach for Byrnes High School, said, “Teenagers who participate in sports are better time mangers.”
Nathan Hall, student at Byrnes Freshman Academy, said, “Teens who participate in sports are healthier.”
Brandi Aiken, head softball coach at BHS, said, “When involved in sports, it teaches discipline and commitment.”
Logan McAbee, student at BFA, said, “Sports are an easy way to make friends.”
However, there are many cons to playing a sport in high school.
Michael Maus, said, “For many it is hard to balance the sport and school.”
Nathan Hall, said, “There is not as much time for school work.”
Bri Durrah, softball player at BHS, said, “When you play a sport, you don’t get to have the time to enjoy other high school experience.”
Many people agree that sports do help teenagers keep their lives on an appropriate route, but they may not be for everyone.
