February 21, 2014
By jorge hernandez of BERGEN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Paramus, NJ-  The Bulldogs receive great news from The NJCAA.  Two of Bergen's wrestlers will be traveling to Holyoke, WA to compete in the 2014 NJCAA National Tournament on February 28 and March 1st.  The two wrestlers earning a spot are Mike Amaro and Steven Orlic.

Mike Amaro (St. Mary’s High school) is a sophomore transfer from Edinboro University of PA.  Amaro is in the 197lb. weight class and had an overall record of 11-2 on the season.  He had won three of those eleven by FALLS.  His big day was when he competed in the CMSV Dolphin Open Tournament that included teams from Merchant Marine, Williams College, New York University, Rhode Island College, Kings College, Middlesex CC and Gloucester CC.   Amaro placed third in the tournament.  He looks to be a very good candidate for NJCAA All –American and will be entering the tournament as a wildcard.

Steven Orlic (Becton Regional High school) is a sophomore that has wrestled two years for The Bulldogs.   Orlic will be wrestling in the 149lb. weight class and is entering the tournament as a wildcard.   Orlic has had a great regular season with a 10-4 record.  Two of the ten wins were won by FALLS.  Steve also completed in the CMSV Dolphin Open Tournament and had a 3-2 record in the tournament and did not place.   This will be Steven’s first trip to the NJCAA national tournament.
