Bergen C.C. Splits Doubleheader with Colombia Green C.C.

Paramus, NJ-  Bergen C.C. (2-2) took on Colombia Green C.C. (1-3) on St. Patrick's Day.  The first game had a great performance from Robert Grippo who left the game with a 5-1 lead.  After Grippo was pulled from from the game, the bullpen was unable to hold on to the lead.  Colombia Green tied the game at 5 in the final inning.  Bergen's DH Mike Richter got on first base and Matthew Dawkins bunted him over into scoring position.  James Donahue in his first game hit a double down the line and drove in the winning run to make the score 6-5.

Second game of the doubleheader was a back and forth game with the game going into extra innings.  Colombia Green pulled away in the top of the ninth by scoring two runs to make it 9-7.  The Bulldogs threatened in the bottom of the ninth, but were unable to comeback losing and splitting the doubleheader with Colombia Green CC.

Sophomore Shortstop, Kevin Alonso had a huge day versus Columbia Green going 5 for 9 with 5 runs scored 2 RBI and a triple.  The Bulldogs will now travel to Dutchess CC on Tuesday, March 19th at 3:30p.m.
