Northampton swept the Bulldogs by the scores of 12-3 in the first game and 6- in the second game. After losing the first game to Northampton, the Bulldogs had an opportunity to go to a third game decisive game. The game was 5-4 in the ninth inning in favor of the Northampton Spartans. Bergen had their last chance to have an opportunity to play and stay alive. Joey Mazzo led off with a walk and was taken out for a pinch runner Alexis Delgado. Delgado advanced on a wild pitch during Mike Rizzo's at-bat with two outs. Rizzo with a full count and two outs fought off several foul balls. Rizzo then connected and drove a single up the middle and score the tying run. He finished the day going 4-9 with a double, 3 RBI and two runs scored. Joey Mazzo went 2 for 5 on the day with two walks and a run scored. Robert Minaya pitched 5 innings allowing 4 earned runs and Joe Grimaldi pitched 3 innings and allowing only 1 earned run keeping the Bulldogs in the game. In the Bottom of the ninth the Spartan's led off with their fourth batter Mike Tenaglia. Tenaglia broke Bergen's heart as he walked off with his second homerun of the game. The Bulldogs were sent home after posting the most wins in Bergen history with a 26-17 record in the regular season. Bulldogs will be back next year to improve on the success season. Good luck to all the sophomore's as they will be looking to play at the four year level.
