August 25, 2012
By Shane Lightfoot of Bethesda Christian High School

The Bethesda Patriots soccer team lost to University High School 3-1 in their opening match of the West Ham United - International Soccer Shootout held today at the International School of Indiana.

The Patriots tied the Trailblazers 1-1 in a regular season match last Tuesday, but lost the rematch this morning.  The loss put the Patriots in consolation game this afternoon where they defeated International 3-1 to salvage a split in the tournament.  International lost 6-3 to Indianapolis Washington in the first match of the day, which led to their afternoon encounter with the Patriots.

The Patriots are now 2-2-1 on the season, having defeated Indianapolis Lutheran 4-1 on Thursday night.  The team hits the road for a few games now, starting with Park Tudor on Monday night at 5:00 p.m., when they will take on a strong Panther team.  The Patriots next home contest will be on Tuesday, September 18th, when they face Faith Christian at 6:00 p.m.

Be sure to support your Patriots all season, both home and away!
