Base: Avon wins slugfest against Carmel, 13-11

Avon plated seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning enroute to a 13-11, May 9 win over Carmel.

 

Senior Andrew Eiler went 3 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Orioles offensively.

 

Three other Avon seniors each collected a pair of hits also. Ryan McPike was 2 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and run scored. Jake Burns went 2 for 4 with a double, a pair of RBIs and runs scored. Jared Miller went 2 for 5 with a double, RBI and one run scored.

 

Freshman Khristian Reynolds drove in a pair of runs going 1 for 2 at the dish.

 

Sophomore Brad McCaslin pitched two and one-third innings of relief allowing a pair of hits and striking out one to earn his fifth win of the season.

 

The Greyhounds had five players with at least two hits led by the 3 for 4 performance of sophomore Kyle Fiala. Fiala had three singles and collected an RBI and scored a run.

 

Jack Martin and Jack Thompson, both sophomores, each had two hits. Martin drove in three runs and scored twice while Thompson doubled and scored.

 

Senior Drew Albers doubled twice, drove in and scored a run while classmate Austin Clark had a pair of singles, two RBIs and scored a run for Carmel.
