IHSAA TIPS OF THE WEEK

A.

How do you handle adversity in the classroom or during your sport of choice?  What happens if you or your team gets a bad call during a game?  How do you react when you don't get the grade you think you deserve in the classroom?

Let's face it, when you play sports you know that some calls won't be in your favor.  How you react to them will either leave a good impression or bad impression with those calling the game and your coaches and teammates.

The same holds true in the classroom.  Your final grade is determined by more than just your test scores.  Your attitude, your effort in class, and turning in all of your assignments on time will increase your chance of a better grade.

Life, as in sports, may not seem fair, but it is how you deal with the challenges along the way that determines your success and happiness.

B.

Have you been paying attention to the presidential debates and the upcoming presidential election that will take place in November?

In a recent poll, potential voters were asked the question, "What is more important to you in a candidate, trust of the individual or agreement with the candidate's opinions and policies?  Trust won in a landslide.

I would say regardless of the situation - politics, jobs, athletics, or in the classroom, trust is the key component to success.

Trust means being open to the wisdom and guidance of those in charge.  By trusting your teachers and coaches, you will more likely grow and succeed in your talents and abilities.
