The Augusta Panthers were home looking for their 6th straight win to open the season against the Nicholas County Bluejackets on Thursday night. Augusta jumped out in a hurry to an early lead en route to a 32-20 lead after 1 quarter. Defensive pressure was the story of the 2nd quarter as the Panthers press lead to multiple Bluejacket turnovers and Augusta sprinted out to a 66-29 halftime lead. The Panthers just kept pouring on in the second half to improve to 6-0 with a 105-59 victory. It was Augusta's largest margin of victory over the Bluejackets in the 48 games the two squads have faced each other in. Brent Bach led all scorers with 39 points. Joining him in double figures were Camryn Snapp with 18 and Connor Maddox with 13.
"We showed tonight what we are capable of doing on defense when we really get after it," said Coach Hinson.

On Monday night the Pendleton County Wildcats came to Augusta to battle the Panthers and once again the Panthers' defensive pressure would decide this one early. Thanks to a pregame technical Augusta took a 2-0 lead before the ball was tipped and grabbed momentum from the start as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead and led 26-10 after the 1st quarter. The Panthers continued the rout and led 48-31 at the break. The Wildcats never posed any kind of threat in the second half as Augusta won, 93-67. The win was a historic one for the Panthers who improved to 7-0 for the first time in school history. Brent Bach led Augusta with 34 points. Camryn Snapp dropped in 21 and Connor Maddox added 19.
"Once again our defense made the difference in this one," said Coach Hinson, "As far as the 7-0 start, it just goes to show how hard this group has worked."
