On Saturday morning the Panthers were in Harrison County to face the Scott Eagles, 37th district represenative, while Paris (40th) took on host Harrison County (38th).  Augusta and Scott played a tight back and forth 1st quarter with the Panthers holding a slight 12-11 edge.  Augusta started to feel it the 2nd quarter as they outscored the Eagles 18-11 to take a 30-22 lead at intermission.  The Panthers were dominate in the 3rd quarter dropping 18 points once again to lead 48-32 going into the 4th quarter.  Suddenly the road to the finals got a little cloudy.  The Panthers got cold, struggling to hit anything and Scott took advantage.  The Eagles got to within 3 at 51-48 with only :40 to go but Augusta would close the game out, 57-50.  The win made them 9-0.  Owens Crawford led the Panthers with 19 points.  Connor Maddox had 17 and Camryn Snapp added 10.

Scoring vs. Scott:  Crawford 19, Maddox 17, Snapp 10, Spradlin 7, Staggs 4

Next up for Augusta was Paris in the 10th region freshmen final.  The Panthers jumped all over the Greyhounds early leading 23-11 after 1 quarter.  They kept up the pressure in the 2nd quarter and led 34-19 at the half.  A 22-9 3rd quarter would seal the game for Augusta as they ran away with this one, 68-44.  The win improved the, to 10-0 and completed an undefeated season, just like the 2000-2001 team, and another 10th region freshmen championship.  Camryn Snapp led the Panthers with 29 points.  Connor Maddox added 23.  Congratulations to the boys on an accomplishment that has made our entire community proud.
