Home » Boys' Basketball NewsPanthers dispose of 16th Region FoeFebruary 4, 2013 Augusta Independent SchoolsOn Monday night the Augusta Panthers welcomed the Bath County Wildcats from the 16th region. The Wildcats came out with an aggressive style on both ends of the floor, which wasn't a surprise to the Panthers but at the same time kept them from breaking out as they like to do. Augusta held an 11-9 lead after the 1st quarter. Augusta would continue to lead in the 2nd quarter but the game would still be a tight one as they led at the break, 29-23. In the 3rd quarter Augusta started to seize control of the contest as they extended their lead, finishing the quarter up 57-39. In the 4th quarter it was much of the same as the Panthers ran away from the Wildcats, 85-64. The win improved Augusta to 17-7. Tanner Kelsch led the Panthers with a career high 34 points and Brent Bach was right behind him with 33. "We've got a really nice 1-2 punch in Brent and Tanner," said Coach Hinson, "They are both playing really well right now and there's no better time to start rolling." Scoring vs. Bath County: Kelsch 34, Bach 33, Snapp 7, Maddox 6, Crawford 2, Barrett 2, Conn 1
