January 7, 2013
Augusta Independent Schools

The Augusta Panthers opened their season on November 27th in Mt. Olivet facing the Robertson County (Deming) Black Devils.  It didn't take long for the Panthers to take control as they raced out to a 19-4 lead after one quarter.  And if that wasn't enough they poured in 27 points in the 2nd quarter to lead 46-15 at the break.  The second half went by pretty quick as the running clock was in effect once the margin reached 35 points.  Augusta won the game 64-34.  The 1-0 Panthers were led in scoring by Brent Bach with 17 points and joined in double figures by Tanner Kelsch, Connor Maddox and Dustin Freeman with 12 apiece.      "I was really impressed with our defense tonight," said Coach Hinson, "We played well defensively in our 2 scrimmages and it looks like we're still getting after it."

Scoring vs. Robertson County:  Bach 17, Kelsch 12, Maddox 12, Freeman 12, Conn 5, Snapp 2, Crawford 2, Barrett 2
