Atlanta Aliens Strikes With Another Victory
On a evening when GM/Head Coach Duck Richards did not attend the game due to personal reasons, he left the team under the helm of his Assistant Coach Wesley Graves. Without hesitation, Graves quickly duplicated the role of Coach Duck by applying aggressive full court pressure and defeated Phoenix City Bombers 135-124 this past weekend in Phoenix City, Alabama.
Graves, who captured his first win as interim head coach in the ABA, is no stranger to the game of basketball. Graves played point guard for New Mexico State University in the early 80's and well knowlegable of the game. This is his second season as an assistant coach under Duck Richards.
The Aliens jumped out to a quick 13-0 lead early in the first quarter and never looked back. Although the team made a few unforced turnovers, they managed to correct their own errors and never lost the lead.
Alonso Davis lead all scorers with 32 points and 8 rebounds. Joshua Simmons followed with 22 points, Jay Brown had 19 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists, Charvez Davis had 19 points, Shasta Scott 16 points, Samuel Goodman 10 points, 8 assist, Joshua Jones 9 points, Sherard Reddick and Cameron Morris each had 7 points and Femi Ojayi had 4 points.
The Atlanta Aliens are now 7-2 overall. Their next games is against Jackson Mississippi Showboats Saturday, February 9, 2013.
