Another One Bites The Dust, Atlanta Aliens Remained Undefeated!
Unranked, undefeated, untied and unbelievable! The first half of the Atlanta Aliens ABA season ended with another victory and a early Christmas gift for GM/Head Coach Alan "Duck" Richards. Atlanta Aliens defeated Greenville Galaxy 105-80 to remain undefeated (4-0) in the ABA Atlantic South Division 2012-2013 season. Although two out of the six scheduled games for the Aliens this season were cancelled, the Aliens are perfect thus far and this is the second straight season that Coach Duck Richards has lead his ABA pro basketball team to be undefeated during the first half of the season. Last years his team was 6-0 during the holiday break. "It's always great to start off your season with wins but the key to having a successful season is to be consistent by improving each and every game," said Richards.
Atlanta Aliens goal was to keep the winning streak going and they accomplished that. Yet, the tough Greenville Galaxy did not lay down without a fight. The game started off with defensive intensity as both team failed to score a basket during the first three minutes of the game. Atlanta Aliens made a few adjustments then finally cracked the ice by scoring the first basket and the score continued to build from there. By the end of the first quarter, the Aliens had captured a 20-13 lead. During the second quarter, the Aliens were well into their groove with balance shooting from various different players and they took a 52-41 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, the Aliens applied more pressure with veteran guard/team captain Mike Sloan leading the way. Sloan scored 11 points alone in the third quarter before acquiring a slight injury to his right foot. He rested the entire forth quarter for precaution. Once the final buzzer sounded, the Aliens cruised on to victory for a 105-80 final score.
Charvez Davis, the latest new member of the Atlanta Aliens (former NBADL Texas Legends), lead the team with 22 points, reserve guard Marcus McDaniel came off the bench to follow up with 21 points, Mike Sloan and Alonso Davis both finished with 15, Samuel Goodman 11, Joshua Jones 10, Femi Ajayi 5, Jay Brown 4, Shasta Scott 3, David Lawrence and Demetrice Williams each had 2. The Atlanta Aliens will play their next game Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia against Silvertown Prep at Grant Park gym located at 537 Park Ave, Atlanta, Ga 30312.
