Home » Announcements NewsWho's the Live Leader in the South Suburbs?September 1, 2012 Alan B. Shepard High SchoolNo other high school in the South suburbs can boast the consistent, live, student coverage of clubs, sports and events that Astro-TV has brought to Shepard High School and Community High School District 218 since the Spring of 2010. What started with a regular season Shepard badminton match carried live through on-line partner iHigh.com of Lexington, Kentucky, in April of that year has grown to live/streaming webcasts of every Varsity/home football game, and even the historic 24 hours of live coverage of Shepard's first 24 Hour Relay Challenge one year later. All of this, thanks to the student crew of Astro-TV, who enthusiastically fills the positions of director, on-air talent, camera operators, technical directors, audio technicians, production assistants and many more vital areas to ensure live coverage makes it into the homes of thousands of Shepard and District students, parents and supporters. Astro-TV's recent live coverage of Shepard's annual Spring Commencement Ceremony May 24th garnered more than 2,250 views that evening and helped spur record numbers of DVD orders of the edited webcast. Astro-TV crew members know that the experience gained in working live event coverage will take them far when searching for employment opportunities beyond Shepard and college studies. Their abilities to perform skillfully and handle deadline pressure while providing live entertainment and information to a wide and diverse audience place them in prime positions for hiring by television stations and video production companies across the country. Keep watching Astro-TV and iHigh.com during the coming months for more great, live coverage of the sights and sounds and memorable moments - courtesy of the Shepard's award-winning student journalists.
