NFL, NATIONAL GUARD FOOTBALL CAMP AT RHS JUNE 20-24

High school football players from across the metro area will be participating in the National Football

League's (NFL) High School Player Development (HSPD) football camp, presented by the National

Guard, June 20-24. The free five-day camp, featuring daily appearances by former Chiefs players, runs

from 5-7 p.m. at District Stadium, adjacent to Ruskin High School (7000 E. 111th St.).

Each day, players will work on fundamentals and specific football skills training. Players focus on both an

offensive and defensive position and eventually apply their newly-learned fundamentals to live drills.

National Guard members and guest speakers talk to the athletes about character development, life skills,

personal development, community service and life after high school.

Since its inception in 2001, the HSPD program has provided participants with a curriculum focusing on

inspiring excellence in the classroom, community and the playing field. The program, funded by the

National Guard through the NFL Youth Football Fund, will be implemented at more than 150 sites in 36

states this year. This is the third year the National Guard has sponsored the HSPD program.

High school sophomores through seniors can still register for the camp online at www.hickmanmills.org or

by calling (816) 316-7025.
