Shelly Barker Named "Heart of a Champion"

Ashe County High School's Shelly Barker was selected as one of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association "Heart of a Champion" winners. One male and one female are selected from each conference from around the state.
HEART OF A CHAMPION recognizes student-athletes who have participated in at least one varsity sport and remained ejection-free during the school year. These students also exemplify outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship. The recognition ceremony is a luncheon that takes place in June 13, sponsored by the NCHSAA Student Services Division and North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company.
