WBCA's PINK ZONE at Ashe County High School
February 11, 2009 By ACHS iHigh of Ashe County Huskies
The Ashe County Lady Huskies basketball program will join the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and over 1,250 colleges and high schools nationally in the organization's Pink Zone initiative. The WBCA's Pink Zone initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The WBCA began the WBCA Pink ZoneTM, formerly known as "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. All fans attending the game are asked to wear ‘pink' to support the cause. Whether you wear a pink ribbon, a pink t-shirt or make a donation --- the importance comes in the awareness you create. So get your pink ready today!!
Ashe County High School will participate on Thursday, February 12 during the home game vs. Wilkes Central High School - with the JV girls game starting at 4PM.
About the WBCA Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as a sport for women and girls.
