Huskies Fall in Colvard-Oil Finals

Girls results:

The Ashe County varsity girls suffered their first loss of the 2009-10 season in the Colvard-Oil championship game. Charlotte Catholic defeated the Lady Huskies 55-52. The Huskies were down 9 points at half-time, but managed to take the lead early in the
4th quarter. However, Charlotte Catholic hit 5 of 6 free throws in the closing minute to seal the win. The Lady Huskies fall to 9-1 overall.

Mitchell girls defeated North Surry in the consolation game.


Boys results:

North Surry won, 59-52, despite scoring all of two points for nearly four minutes to begin the final quarter. The Huskies, which trailed 51-40 after three quarters, rallied, but could never get close enough to take the lead. The Huskies fall to 7-3 overall.

Charlotte Catholic defeated Volunteer (TN) in the consolation game.


The Ashe County teams will be back in action on Monday, January 4 as they host Elkin High School. (This game was originally scheduled for December 18.) This will be a 4 game set, with the JV girls will beginning at 4PM.
