Carpenter Named Student of the Week

By Josh Gooding

Freshman Anna Carpenter has been selected as Greene Central's Student of the Week for the third week of October.

Carpenter was nominated by business teacher James Monroe for being an extremely hard worker and for always being on time.

"Anna is an extremely hard worker.  She's in class every day and on time.  She completes her assignment in a timely manner and very is thorough," said Monroe.

"Being in high school is a lot more work than middle school; you have to work and move at a much faster pace," said Carpenter.

Carpenter is currently enrolled in Honors English 9, Principles of Business and Personal Finance, Honors British History and Shakespeare, and Honors Earth Science.

"The people here are a lot nicer; I have made a lot of new, upperclassman friends.  I really enjoy the afterschool activities like football games," said Carpenter

Carpenter is currently a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Shag Club, and Smiles Club.  Smiles Club is a new club this year aimed at raising the overall morale of the school.

"The learning in high school is a lot more in depth;, you learn a whole lot more.  Also the fact that you get to choose your own classes makes the experience much more enjoyable," said Carpenter.

"She is very active in class and always a part or leading class discussion; Anna is a joy to teach, and I'm glad she's in my second period," said Monroe.

She is the daughter of Jon and Terri Carpenter of Snow Hill.
