Wildcats place in 4x800 Girls Relay

May 23, 2009
West Stokes High School

The West Stokes Lady Wildcats qualified for three events at the NCHSAA 2A State Track Meet yesterday at North Carolina A&T University.  The Lady Cats came away with a seventh place finish in the 4x800 girls relay race, the highest any relay team has finished since the interception of the School in 1999.

Members of the relay team were Braeden Barr, Ashley Gentry, Erica Boles, and Hannah Helms.  They finished with a time of 10.29.42, more than five seconds better than their prelim time.

Barr participated in the high jump and placed 13th in the state with a jump of 4-10, while Helms ran in the 800-meter race and finished 11th with a time of 2:32.34.

The Lady Wildcats finished the season with a second place finish in the North State 2A Conference and look for future success while competing most of the year with underclassman.
