Home » Baseball NewsApollo Defeats Madisonville 12-7March 18, 2013 By Jon Boultinghouse of Apollo High SchoolDustin Vincent had two extra base hits, sparking Apollo to a 12-7 victory in seven innings over Madisonville on Saturday at Madisonville. He doubled in the first inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning. Cole Lyons got the win for Apollo . He allowed three runs over five innings. Lyons struck out five, walked none and gave up five hits. Vincent, Jacob Glenn and Jakob Shuler helped lead Apollo . They combined for seven hits and four RBIs. Apollo went up for good in the first, scoring three runs on two ground outs and an RBI single by Lyons. Madisonville put up one run in each of the first, fourth and fifth. In the first, Madisonville scored on a groundout by Baird, scoring Tichenor. Apollo got one-run boosts in each of the fourth, sixth and seventh. In the fourth, Apollo scored on an error, bringing home Glenn. Apollo increased its lead with six runs in the fifth. A two-run home run by Vincent ignited the offense,, scoring Lyons. That was followed up by Shuler's single, plating Matt McCarty. One run in the bottom of the fifth helped Madisonville close its deficit to 10-3. An RBI double by Baird set off Madisonville rally. But, Lyons got Sisk to strike out to end the inning. Madisonville scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to cut its deficit to five. An RBI single by Juan Davis, a two-run single by Carver, and a hit by pitch sparked Madisonville's rally. Apollo 's Kenny Rideout induced a Jones ground out to close things out.
