Apollo Baseball Wins Opener Against Webster

Apollo and Webster County each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but Apollo capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 9-4 win at Eagle Park.

Webster Co. out-hit Apollo 11 to 8, but Webster County stranded nine runners on base.

Jakob Shuler put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for Apollo . He tripled in the fourth inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Tanner Edge handled Webster County's lineup with ease, racking up five strikeouts. Edge gave up just four hits over four shutout innings.

Jared Boswell got the win for Apollo . He allowed four runs over one inning. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered five hits.

Dustin VincentJacob Glenn and Shuler helped lead Apollo . They combined for four hits and three RBIs.

Apollo closer Kenny Rideout put away the final six outs to record the save.

The Eagles return to action this Saturday with a Varsity/JV doubleheader at Madisonville-North Hopkins.
