Vincennes Lincoln Fight Song

Lincoln School Fight Song (We’re Loyal To You Illinois)

The 1923 Vincennes High School basketball team derived the unique nickname of “Alices.” That team played one night at Columbus, where they were dubbed the Cinderella team of 1923. Combining the fairytale of Cinderella with Alice in Wonderland and Alice of Old Vincennes, a sports writer started calling the team, Alices, and it has stuck since. Although school officials have never officially adopted the nickname, the unique nickname has followed Vincennes High School athletic teams through out their history. The mascot, Big “A”, was first introduced in 1983.

Prepare for the fight, Vincennes High, We’re for green and white, Vincennes High We’ll back you to stand against the best in the land For we know you have sand, Vincennes High Rah, Rah

Then make that ball spin, Vincennes High, And then we will win, Vincennes High Our team is our fame protector, on boys for we expect a victory from you, Vincennes High 15 Rah’s, 2 Team-O-Baby’s, 3 Team’s Fling out that dear old flag of green and white Send all your friends and classmates fresh for the fight Like men of olden giants, placing reliance, shouting defiance, Chine, Chow, Chow Down on the Wabash banks where prospers our town As patriotic folks we’ve been written down, And on our heads they’ll place the Victor’s crown Dear Alma Mater, Old Vincennes. A-L-I-C-E-S Lincoln Alices are the best!!!
