Jul 17---Nothing says summer more than a fresh tomato picked from the garden. In celebration of summer, free tomato sandwiches will be served during the 3rd annual Tomato Sandwich Day  on Thursday July 17th on the Courthouse Square in Hamilton. Sandwiches will be given away from 3-6pm that day. Other locally grown fruit and vegetables will be available to buy. For more info call 921-3551


Jul 19---Vacation Bible School will be held at the First Baptist Church of Gu-Win July 17-19, 5:30-8:00pm nightly. For info call 495-5253 or 495-5117


Jul 19---The Pikeville County Club will host a One Man Scramble Golf Tournament July 19th and 20th. Entry fee is $50. Players 55 and older will tee from a modified Gold Tee. Shotgun start both days. Must be 18 or over to enter. For info call 921-9577


Jul 20---Springhill Baptist Church in the Bluff Community will host Homecoming Services July 20th. Morning worship at 10:30...Lunch at noon...and singing at 1 with the Palmetto Blue Grass Gospel group as the guest


Jul 24---The Marion County Domestic Violence Task Force ill meet Thursday July 24th at noon at Dinelli's in Hamilton and at 6pm at Hot Rod Subs in Gu-Win. Everyone is welcome


Jul 27---Coming July 25th-27th to the Pastime Theatre, the World Premiere of The Surprise Party, a new play by local playwright Melanie McCullough. Performances will be on that Friday and Saturday at 7pm and that Sunday at 2.  Tickets are $15 and available at the Pastime Theatre Office, Gold Connection, the Kemp Foundation Office, and City Hall in Winfield.


Jul 30---The Winfield Church of God will host a Kids Crusade on July 27-30 at 6pm nightly. There will be food, fun and inflatable on that Wednesday. All area children ages 12 and under are welcome. For info call 487-4889

Jul 31---Have you ever wanted to extend your gardening growing season and wondered what plants you can grow in a fall garden? A Fall Gardening meeting will be held on Thursday July 31st 6-8pm at the Winfield Experiment Station where you can learn about fall plant varieties and problems that arise in gardens this time of year. Jul 31---The Winfield Elementary School is taking applications for the new Pre-K Program. Children must be 4 years old by September 1st to be eligible for the program. For info call the school office at 487-2305


Aug 1---The Marion County Federation will hold it's County Annual Meeting on Friday August 1st at 6:30pm at the Hamilton Rec Center


Aug 8---Everyone is invited to 2 dynamic nights of revival at the Full Gospel Worship Center in Vernon with Karen Wheaton and Chosen on THursday August 7th and Friday August 8th at 7pm. For info or directions call 695-6757


Aug 16---Rick Bragg, Pulitzer Prize winning author and Alabama native will speak at the Fayette Civic Center on August 16th. Tickets are $15 and includes appetizers from 5:30-7:00pm. Tickets available at the Fayette Civic Center, the Citizens Bank of Fayette or by calling 932-8727


Aug 30---The Hackleburg Rescue Squad is selling chances on a 35 quart Yeti Cooler valued at over $300 to be given away August 30th. Tickets are $1 each. All proceeds go to the Hackleburg Rescue Squad to help serve the people of Hackleburg and surrounding area


TFN---The Marion County Farmers Market is open Saturday 7-11am, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3-6pm in the old Weston Fire Department in Hamilton. For info call 921-3551


 TFN---Head Start is taking applications now for Preschool Services for children age 3-5. Class space is limited so call now! Parents must bring the child's birth certificate, Verification of income for 2013, Medicaid or insurance card, information about WIC, food stamps, college ID, Military ID, proff of kinship care, and IEP. Services are provided at no cost to parents including all school supplies. Children with special needs and/or disabilities and homeless families are given priority.
