Ashland Track Seniors Attempt All 18 Events
May 7, 2009 By AJ Stadelmeyer of Paul G Blazer High School
It is an Ashland Track and Field tradition that as a senior athletes career comes to a close, they attempt to participate in all 18 events possible sometime during their career. So at the end of a seniors season, the seniors try to attempt events at the last regular season meet they have never attempted before. For example, tomorrow senior Emily Mayo will be doing the pole vault at the away meet at South Point, Ohio.
The 18 events in a high school track and field meet in Kentucky are: Field Events: Shot Put, Discus, Triple Jump, Long Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault Running Events: 4x 800 Relay, 100 Meter Hurdles, 100 Meter Dash, 4x 200 Relay, 1600 Meter Run, 4x100 Relay, 800 Meter Run, 400 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, 200 Meter Dash, 3200 Meter Run, 4x400 Relay.
Good luck Emily Mayo and the other Ashland track seniors as you try to finish the events you have never competed in before. |
